Creativity Lesson Plan:

Focus: Creativity: Trying new approaches to get things done that equals innovation and invention.
Read Aloud:
Activity: Students use paper, toilet paper tubes, cotton balls, cardboard and straws to create their own class pet.
Reflection: What is something you learned while creating? What was hard for you while creating?

Collaboration Lesson Plan:

Focus: Collaboration: Working together to read a goal. Utilizing student talents and schema to work as a team.
Read Aloud: Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle or The Enormous Carrot by Vladimir Vagin
Activity: Students work together to create a domino train. They will create a train in their small team then will add their small train to the whole group train.
Reflection: Did you listen to the ideas of your teammates? Were you able to share your ideas with your teammates?

This team called themselves, 'The Dream Team'. Students worked together to create domino trains. They then reflected on how they worked as a team and what to do when

Critical Thinking Lesson Plan:

Focus: Critical Thinking: Looking at problems in a new way, linking learning across subjects and disciplines
Read Aloud: What do you do with a Problem? by Kobi Yamada
Activity: Students work in teams of three to create the tallest tower that stands by itself.
Reflection: When you were stuck, what did you do? What did you do when you received feedback?

Communication Lesson Plan:

Focus: Communication: Sharing thoughts, questions, ideas and solutions.
Read Aloud: My Mouth is a Volcano by Julia Cook
Activity: The Great Puzzle Race! Students work in teams of 3 to be the first team to put together a puzzle!
Reflection: Were you able to share your ideas with your teammates? What was easy/hard about talking to your teammates?

Breakout EDU Week 1:

Story: ABC Zoo is Locked! Zoe the zookeeper arrived at work today and realized she didn’t have her keys! She remembers locking a box before she left last night. Can you help Zoe get into the box and look for her keys?
Focus: Students learn about how to work as a team to solve the clues.
Activity: Students work together to solve four clues to figure out the codes to breakout!
Reflection: How did you help your team? How did your team work well together?

Students are learning how to problem solve when, they all want to open the lock. This group decided to do 'Eenie meenie miney mo'!

Breakout EDU Week 2:

Story: Oh no! Our schedule is mixed up and missing recess! We must solve the puzzles and open this box so we don’t miss recess!
Focus: Students learn about how to work as a team to solve the clues.
Activity: Students worked together to solve the clues to figure out the codes to breakout!
Reflection: What do you like to do during recess? How would you feel if we did not have recess on our schedule?
