Britt Sawyer is the band director at Severance Middle School. She has been a music educator for 19 years and has been at SMS since it opened in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Music Education from the American Band College at Central Washington University. When she isn't teaching, Ms. Sawyer plays percussion with the Fort Collins Wind Symphony and is a professional disc golfer. You can usually find her chasing frisbees in a local park or course with her husband, Ian, on the weekend.

Cathy Verbyla is orchestra and drama club teacher at Severance Middle School. Ms. Verbyla will be entering her 5th year of education, and has taught at SMS since 2018. She has a Bachelor of Music Education from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in French horn Performance from the University of Northern Colorado. Ms. Verbyla is active in a wide variety of ensembles, from choirs like Cantabile in Boulder, and as the Music Director at the Arts Hub in Lafayette. Cathy has even played as a hornist at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England! The new year holds so much potential, and Cathy is looking forward to sharing the worlds of theater and music with you all.

Rachel Adams is the choir director at Severance Middle School.  This is Mrs. Adams's 9th year teaching music.  She holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Metropolitan State University in Vocal Music and also has a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  Her choirs actively seek community performance opportunities to engage audiences in the world of choral music as well as compete for select opportunities such as All-State Choir.  She loves spending time with her husband and four children camping, hiking, gardening, and climbing steep steps wheeling as long as she doesn't have to be the driver!
