Columbia University's Science Honors Program

If you have a strong interest in science and math, please consider applying to Columbia University's Science Honors Program. The program will take place from 10 AM to 12:30 pm on Saturday's throughout the academic year beginning in September. Please note that selected participants will be required to take an online entrance exam this May or June. (exact dates are  to be determined).

Brown Pre-College Program

To apply to Brown Pre-College, students are asked to submit transcripts, an essay and optionally, a recommendation. The application review, acceptance and enrollment processes all mirror that of an undergraduate experience. This experience leaves students better prepared to engage in the college application process as they approach their senior year.

Stevens Pre-College Summer Program

Students will have the opportunity to learn from Stevens faculty, connect with current students, participate in social activities and learn more about the college admissions process.

Centenary Pre-College Summer Academy 

The Summer Academy is a high school pre-college program for rising grades 9-12. The program is held as two one-week intensives in June and July. Course at taught by Centenary University Professors. Each program offers overnight accommodations with three meals and evening activities.

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) Youth Counsel

The mission of The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) is to reduce the number of youth suicides and attempted suicides by encouraging public awareness through the development and promotion of educational training programs.

The SPTS Youth Council is open to high school students in New Jersey who are interested in learning more about mental health and wellness, stress management, resiliency, and how to help peers in need.

HUDSON COUNTY YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL  (YLC)  

The YLC was created by the County of Hudson under the Department of Health and Human Services to promote civic engagement and leadership in Hudson County’s young people by providing opportunities for youth to become active citizens, learn first-hand about local government and initiate educational campaigns and activities targeting their peers.

 

The YLC is a group of Hudson County high school students interested in improving their communities, learning about local government and the issues impacting Hudson County, educating their peers and developing leadership skills.  

 

The focus of YLC will be youth mental health and wellness. The group will meet for an eight-month period (October – May) which will include meetings and activities focused on increasing knowledge of mental health and social and emotional awareness and cultivating leadership and advocacy skills.

Hope + Future

Hope + Future provides after school health and wellness programs in a safe environment with highly qualified instructors. By working with teachers and school administration, Hope + Future is able to track the attendance, grades and disciplinary action of the kids in the programs. Hope + Future coaches and instructors also act as mentors for kids, give advice, and provide leadership training through center activities and classes. It is their belief that they are training tomorrow’s leaders. They prepare their mentees by teaching them how to lead and then providing them with opportunities to lead, coach and mentor younger students from surrounding elementary schools.
