Ask two teachers for recommendation letters. Give them a two weeks notice! Remember they have many recommendation letters to write so ask as soon as possible. Watch this video for guidance.
Ask your counselor for a recommendation letter. Please share a brag sheet with your counselor. In your brag sheet, include extracurricular activities, accomplishments, volunteer work, any unique information we can include.
Make a common app account, by clicking here. Start this as soon as possible as it will take some time to answer the questions being asked. If you have any questions with the common application, please email your counselor.
Make sure you have access to Naviance. You will need to connect your Naviance account to your Common application account. Watch this video for instructions.
Make sure you are registering for college virtual visits on Naviance. It is highly recommended to attend at least 3 sessions so you can learn about the admissions process for different schools. This year many colleges are test optional so it is important to learn about the necessary components of your application. These small sessions also provide you time to connect with the admissions counselor. Some schools are giving you a fee waiver to apply to their school, too. Be on the look out for emails from the counseling department about upcoming visits.
Make sure you are aware that applying to college is very expensive. Please narrow your college search down to 6-10 schools. Remember you are not only paying for the applications, but you are paying for SAT scores to be sent to all the colleges you apply to.
Register for the SAT if you need to. Click here for the upcoming SAT dates. If you need a fee waiver, please contact your counselor. School SAT day for seniors is October 26th.
Financial Aid night will be November 28th. The FAFSA opens up TBD. Fill out your FAFSA as soon as possible.
Make sure to check your transcript over. You should have received yours from your counselor. If something is not right, let her know.
Be mindful of your deadlines! If you are applying for an early action/early decision you will need to make sure you get the application in on time. When you apply to a school, contact your counselor and let them know!
Check out the "College Information" section on this website for more information.
All college applications should be completed and ready to be submitted by Thanksgiving. More information will provided as the date gets closer.
***Review this checklist to ensure you have completed each step of the college application process.***
Transcripts
Please review your transcript that was emailed to you by your counselor. If you see an issue, please email your school counselor. When you are applying for colleges, it is imperative that you inform your counselor when you have submitted your application. Counselors need to know what schools you are applying to and when so we can send your transcripts. Open communication during the college application process is key.
