About Mrs. Parani

Hi!  I'm Megan Parani.  (puh - RAN - ee)

You may also know me as Megan Vitovic; I got married in July 2023. This is my fifth year teaching at Weehawken High School, but I have previously worked with students ranging from preschool to high school.  I earned a BA in English from Montclair State University, where I received accolades for my writing about Shakespeare's plays.  Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the hospitality industry, so I love to cook and meet new people.  When I was in high school, I was the editor-in-chief of the student-created art and literature magazine for two years, and literary editor for one year.  I am so grateful to work with the WHS staff as your teacher!  

My Teaching Philosophy:

A great teacher prioritizes the creation of a classroom environment where all feel safe and respected.  Learning is a process where our willingness to try our best pairs with timely and specific feedback about your growth.  I value your passions and experiences, and I know that we can work together to see mastery in your skills and abilities as we work on aspects of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Some fun facts about me:

• I have two cats (they are brother and sister) and three snails.

• I love NFL football, and my team is the Baltimore Ravens.

• The furthest I've traveled was to visit Quito, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

• I have seen my favorite musical artist, Jack White, live in concert at least 30 times -- can you find me in the front row?
