Post Secondary Transition

Workplace Pathway

Courses in this pathway place emphasis on skill acquisition for success in Grade 11 & 12 Workplace and Open courses, and experiential learning. 

Students may go directly into the workplace or an apprenticeship. 

Students may choose one of the specialized programs at St. Clair College:

A.C.E. –Academic & Career Entrance: preparatory  courses for specific College programs.

C.E.P. – College & Employment Preparation: program to improve reading, writing and math competencies.

Community Integration through  Cooperative Education: 2 year program for individuals with developmental disabilities and other significant  learning challenges.  Students will develop skills to help them prepare for employment.

College Bound Students

Minimum Requirement: OSSD & English (U or C level)

Students may be required additional courses based on the program prerequisites.  Ex:  Dental hygiene requires senior level chemistry and biology.

Apprenticeship Pathway

Students in this pathway are often scheduled in Coop placements in gr 11 and/or 12 and may enrol in OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program).  

In order to be eligible for OYAP, students must be sixteen years of age or older, have completed 16 credits towards the OSSD, and be enrolled as a full-time student in a secondary school. Students, and their parents, if required, must also complete an OYAP Participant Application Form.

University Bound Students

Grade 11 and 12 University/M level courses emphasize theory and abstract thinking incorporating practical applications.

Minumum Requirement:  English (ENG4U) plus 5 grade 12 University or "M" level courses as well as prerequisites for the programs.

Ex: psychology:  English (ENG4U), Challenge and Change (HSB4U), Social Justice (HRE4M),  Drama (ADA4M), Physed leadership (PLF4M) and Families in Canada (HHS4U).  

Ex:  Biology:  ENG4U, prerequisites are biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) and Advanced Functions (MFH4U), plus 2 other gr 12 "u" or "m" courses.
