We’re always trying to improve attendee experience. To do this, we collect as much data as we possibly can during event time.
Possible tasks: Assist our data collection by tracking people and their movements throughout the event with a smartphone.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
With 25,000 attendees, that’s a lot of hungry mouths to feed.
This team will help support as we ensure all caterers are set up and ready to go.
Possible tasks: registering staff and volunteer meals, transporting small meals within the venue, helping food vendors.
ICT
Work closely with our IT team as we sort out the various network requirements.
Also important to help us stop attendees setting up hotspots around the event.
Possible tasks: checking and monitoring wi-fi network efficiency.
INVESTORS
Did you know we help facilitate meetings for startups and investors during the event?
Your role will be to check the investors in as they arrive to meet their assigned startups.
Possible tasks: directing and informing, helping to manage the Investors area and meetings.
KEY EVENTS
Web Summit is not confined to 9-5 at the DECC. There are a number of
peripheral events happening around the conference.

Possible tasks: directing and informing, assisting in the roundtables, guestlist scanning, cloakroom management.
OPERATIONS
The team making sure everything runs smoothly. The Operations team manage the pragmatic side of things - we’re talking info desks, cloakrooms, directions. The absolute lifeblood of the conference, a great team for hands-on operational experience.
Possible tasks: directing and informing all around the event and at info points, cloakroom/bag drop off management, crowd management, buggy driving, transport assistant and event monitoring.
PARTNERS
Help our Partners feel at home!
Possible tasks: directing and informing, assisting the Partners in managing their areas and activations, assisting in the workshops and meeting rooms.
REGISTRATION
First impressions count. Join this team to be among the first people to welcome attendees to the event. Accreditation is essential for everyone at Web Summit, and it’ll be your job to make sure everyone has everything they need.

Possible tasks: registering attendees, speakers, partners, staff, volunteers and everyone
else that comes to the event, help preparing the registration materials, help to manage the registration areas.
RESPONSE & SUPPORT
It’s crucial to support the wider operational function of the entire volunteer team, this flexible role is a great choice if you’re looking for a variety in your time at Web Summit. Members of the response team are used to support in a variety of ad-hoc situations.
Possible tasks: helping the Volunteer Management team with the day-by-day tasks of volunteers (registering, check-ins, handing t-shirts and lunches, managing the Volunteer Hub, etc), and/or supporting on any of the other teams that might need reinforcement.
This may see you in one role for your shift or possibly serving in a few.
SPEAKERS
Everyone can get nervous from time to time, right? This is why we have a speaker prep area where all our speakers can gather to network, prepare, or just chill out before going on stage.
Volunteering on this team means you’ll help keep things moving smoothly in this highly trafficked, VIP area.
Possible tasks: directing and informing, runner/escorting speakers, roundtables assistant.
STAGES
Until you see it, it’s hard to comprehend the size of Web Summit. With so many stages, there’s a lot of ushering to be done. Join this team and help make sure that all things from the back of the stages run smoothly.
Possible tasks: directing and informing, crowd management, backstage help.
STARTUP
Startups are the lifeblood of our conferences. From the hustle and bustle of the exhibition floor (with changing startups every single day) right through to supporting at PITCH, our fast-paced pitching competition, this is a great team to get an insight into this world.
Possible tasks: directing and informing, crowd management, support the managers of the STARTUP areas (PITCH, Mentor Hours, Exhibition floor, Workshops, Masterclasses, etc).
VOLUNTEER TEAM LEAD
Are you already experienced as our volunteer? Then support the Volunteer Management team to help the new volunteers integrate and form the new teams.
Possible tasks: helping volunteer coordination in handling all the volunteer teams, leading volunteer teams to their posts, acting as a point of contact between volunteers, area managers and volunteer coordination, etc. Best suited to mature, resourceful and veteran volunteers with staff management experience.
VIDEO / CONTENT
Help the video team logistics as Runner. Good fit for those who never wanna stop!!
Possible tasks: runner, timecode tracking.
