Key stage 4

Computer science is the study of modern computing devices and how they work. Computer science is also about problem solving. A good computer scientist needs to have a passion for finding solutions, an ability to use maths and to work creatively. If you like to solve games and puzzles, then you should enjoy computer science.

Having studied this course students will be able to create their own mobile applications to gain additional functionality from their mobile devices rather than be restricted to the applications available from other sources.

The course is divided into two parts:

Practical Programming which is made up of 50 hours of controlled assessment. The tasks will be set by the examination board and will entail two different controlled assessments.

Computing fundamentals which is the theoretical side of the specification and is examined by a written paper at the end of the two year course.
