Shoot 9 26/07 57 Images
In this shoot, I am going to experiment with the idea of my model writing in her diary - and some collage using words from her 'diary'. This will hopefully show the onlooker about how isolating it can feel to be part of the community and the feelings that homophobia can invoke in the psyche.
Ideas/subject matter
Model reading "diary"
Close ups on writing in diary
Collageish with words from diary
Experiment with prism
Cutting up images of young model to make letters & words

I think the shoot went alright - I don't think the pictures are the best lighting, or the best they could be in general. I think the ideas are good, but I might have to come back to it later and get some better images. I think the images with the diary and the text in the diary are a good extension and help to clarify my idea to the viewer.
I think next time I would do this in the studio for better lighting, and try to experiment with the prism a bit more as it would be a good extension.

I really like this shoot and I think it went very well. The closet really helps to clarify my theme, and the labels on the clothes I hope will be a good extension (once I get some with my model wearing them and changing the words on the labels). I also hope to be able to use the photos of the violet later to write on them and explain the symbolism of the flower for the community.
I think next time maybe I would find a few more artist models to generate a few more ideas and have a bit more direction in this shoot.

In this shoot, I am going to get a lot of portraiture pictures as i'm not sure the next time my model will be free at the same time I am! I am going to get portraits of her with the violets, with the skull, and get some that I can use for collages/multimedia.
Ideas/subject matter
PORTRAITURE!!
Photos with violets (experiment with d.o.f)
Reflections - mirror portraiture (Nan Goldin?)
Skull (Robert Mapplethorpe)
Pictures of model with closet & labels

I love this shoot. I think it went awesome, and I am glad that I was finally able to get some more portraiture to break up all of the still life on my boards. I think the pictures with the glasses, and with the violets work very well to link together the still life with my model. The pictures with the labelled clothes are probably my favourite, and I love the symbolism of her grabbing them out of the closet and changing the 'labels' placed on them (symbol for the labels placed on her by society). I don't like the pictures with the little mirror in the slightest though as they really didn't work out well in terms of blurriness, angles or lighting.
I think next time I would experiment a bit more with the mirrors and get some better shots of reflections as a sub-idea.
Shoot 12 19/08 37 Images
In this shoot, I am experimenting with drawing/writing on my pictures. I am hoping to 'reveal' some of my models inner thoughts and explain some of the symbols i've been using (pink triangle/violet) using the writing.

I think this shoot went alright? It was relatively easy to do and didn't take much time to do. I think the image with the pink triangle is quite good as it helps to explain the symbols (pink triangle & violet) and shows the link between those objects and my theme.
I think I could have done the flower one with a different colour pen though as I don't think the 'Fragments by Sappho' is completely legible. So next time I would get a better visible pen colour, and maybe get a few more images to write snippets and stories on for a bigger range of images from the shoot.

In this shoot, I am going to try some still life arrangements with my relevant objects (book, earrings, jewelry, flag etc) to try and break up my portraiture work and to introduce the skull.

I think the shoot went well. The Robert Mapplethorpe style skull images came out very strong, and the still life really helps to break up my ideas on the board. I did find myself running out of ideas for arrangements as I find that I don't really have the eye for still life.
I think next time I would get a few artist model examples of still life arrangements with books for a bit of help with the objects.
Shoot 14 22/08 62 Images
In this shoot, I want to experiment with some collaging and using printed out pictures of my model in different scenarios/books. I also want to get some better pictures of the 'diary'. As well as this, I wanted to extend last shoots still life by getting individual pics of my objects with the black background for a Peter Tonningsen esque grid.

I think this might be my favourite shoot so far. The origami and mixed media element was so fun to do, and the images came out awesome. The origami closet, and Leah inside it, and the symbolism of her "coming out of" a book about coming out of the closet help to clarify my theme to the viewer and I honestly just think they're pretty cool images themselves.
I think next time I would have got photos of Leah in a few more poses for more variation of my cut out model. I also would have remembered to bring my camera home to take those pictures of my model so that they were better quality :( (I forgot to take my camera home and so my images of my model for collaging were quite blurry when printed small - which I had to work around using purposeful blurring with my depth of field).
