Shoot 5 21/05/24 64 Images
I am going to take some establishing shots of the skeleton for later use with double exposures/collages etc. As well as this, I want to take some better pictures of the relevant science journals with the symbolic chrysanthemum flower instead of just a random one. Furthermore, I want to play with shadows in an almost Andre Kertesz style using the skeletons fingers.

The shoot went reasonably well, got a lot of good photos to finally get into my theme (changed my mind about the specifics of my theme). It could have probably had better lighting, as some of the shots of the skeleton were a bit dark, but other than that it went alright. I probably could have found a few more artist models for this shoot, but it was a bit of an experimental "second first shoot" so I think it was alright.
It also leads on quite well to my next shoot(s) as I now have pictures of the skeleton to use for double exposures and to draw on, and also a few good pictures to use for the Jerry Takigawa shoot.

I am not going to be able to get a shoot with my model before the due date, so I am going to skip ahead a bit in my planning and start on a future idea. I want to experiment with defacing pictures of my model when she was young both by hand and on photoshop - to start experimenting with the idea of her not being who she used to be, or that others think that she isn't. I might try to incorporate some rainbow symbolism in the pictures.
Ideas/subject matter
Old photos (of model when she was young)
Drawing on pictures
Destroying pictures
Rainbow symbolism on photos?

The shoot didn't go as well as I wanted it to - and I definitely didn't have enough photos. This isn't the idea I wanted to explore, but I had a death in the family and had to spend a lot of my week looking after siblings and so wasn't able to do a shoot with my model. This meant I skipped ahead a bit to an idea I had for a later shoot, so it doesn't read as well & seems a bit random. I am happy with the photoshop manipulations, I think they look very interesting, but I'm not as happy with the physical manipulations. I think I will definitely revisit this idea later next term when I have some photos of my model currently and find some more ideas of ways to destroy/change the photos from artist models.

I will finally be able to do a shoot with my model, and so this will be a very portraiture focused shoot. I want to take pictures of her with the flag, take some shots that I can use to do double exposures and collages with, and try out some close ups in the style of Chad Pittman.
Ideas/subject matter

Close ups of features
Long shots for double exposures with skeleton
Mirror shots?

I think the shoot went great. It was really good to have a shoot with my model to break up all the still life I had so far. Most of the pictures turned out great, and I really liked the pictures at the very start and end because of their strong lighting. However, I did struggle to get the lighting right as it was during sunset - so it varied quite a bit. The pictures with the flag behind her were too bright and the colours of the flag were washed out, and near the end the pictures were way too orange due to the sunset. Next time I would probably try to be a bit faster in setting up so that the shoot is finished before sunset - and to have enough time to explore more artist models before the light was gone.

I want to experiment with collages, using both the pictures of the young model and pictures of the skeleton. I want the photos to be showing that she is still the same person as she was when she was younger, and how at her core she is human (skeleton symbolism).

I loved this shoot. It was so fun to do, and the results were amazing especially considering how easy it was. I love how the images turned out and will definitely try this again later in the year with new pictures and ideas. However, I think I probably should have looked at some more artist models and ideas to extend the shoot a bit more. Maybe once I have more pictures of my model I will be able to do a bit more/try again.
