The programme allows students to develop:
Artistic skills with a variety of mediums building on the skills taught at year 9 There will be a series of workshops to teach you new skills and introduce new media.
Creative imagination
Personal techniques
Gather information and inspiration to develop ideas for making artworks
Promote independent work habits and to extend your personal learning.
All of the art assignments consist of both homework and classroom projects.
You will be using this website and Google Classroom to access resources for this class.
It is important the you bookmark this site in your browser and also enable emails from Google Classroom so you are notified of your teachers posts.
You will be required to present your work for this course using digital workbook (Google Slideshow) and will be taught what this is and how to do this in class. It is also important that you create an Art folder in Google Drive to save photos and resources to.
You will have some equipment supplied as an art pack for you to use during the year. This is yours to keep and will be disbursed to your account. You should already have your own basic equipment: pens, erasers, basic brushes and water colour palette from previous years.
Art equipment needs to be kept in your pencil case so you bring it to school and home. Other supplies are to be left at home so you have the equipment for home learning.

Examples of Past Student Work from Year 10 Art
Botanical Name - each student in the Art class was required to complete an ink illustration using there name and New Zealand native plant illustrations.
Mark-making - students used a variety of materials and tools to make marks on a masked page.

Flower Study
Tonal painting flowers- Students took photos of flower arrangements from multiple angles. They then painted the artwork using gesso paint. This artwork was inspired by Lynsay Green.
Tonal painting- each student created a tonal acrylic painting using a New Zealand native bird inspired by the artist model Shane Hansen and/or Sophia Minson.
Vector artworks using google drawing- inspired by the study of Don Binney
