I have started experimenting with the layout of my first board in Adobe InDesign. I have used a variety of photos from my 4 photo shoots as well as edited photos using the software Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop. I have used a range of black and white imagines as well as colour images. I changed some of the colour images to black and white as the photos turned out much better in black and white appearance. I had also used the artist model Tim Booth for my hand photos which had to be black and white, so I change some of my photos to black and white to make my board make sense. My main focus for this board has been the architecture of the pool tables, my inspiration was artist model Edward Weston and Andre Kertesz.
Board 3 and 4 Layout
For this Formative I submitted the following 2 boards. These 2 boards included photos ranging from 8 of my of shoots. My focused was to capture the documentary of my fellow team mates playing in the Junior VNEA world Pool tournament. I have focused on the scenery of the tournament as well my team mates in action during the tournament. I don't feel this layout shows any extension of model artist beyond capturing a documentary. The 3 boards together feel muddled and don't show progression of my ideas. I also feel I have moved away from my original theme.
Board Idea Extension
I have starting experimenting with my layout of board one on Indesign. My first boards were a good staring to get inspiration on how to extend my ideas. Looking at my artist models I was really inspired by David Burm, I really liked his use of colour. I wanted this board to show an extension of my shoot 5. I really wanted to highlight the pool table details using colour and colour blocking. I tried to keep my colour scheme to yellow, blue and green. I like how this board shows a progression of my idea.
For my second I wanted to extend my idea of movement that was inspired by the artist models William Frederking and Barbara Morgan. I was pleased to finally photograph my Dad who was my initial theme for the year. There are only so many pool photos you can shoot before the images become repetitive, so layering the shots resulted in interesting movement. I also wanted to progress my Tim Booth inspired images in a way that tied into my board theme. So I used the inspiration from David Wurm to progress the still life image into movement. I am also thinking that I need to increase the opacity in a couple of my motion images.
I played around putting in my Penn inspired frozen pool balls images. But I don't think they worked, I didn't like the confusion of motion and frozen in motion ideas. I also didn't like the contrast of the white background in relation to the overall board colour scheme.
Finalising My Board Ideas
I have spent some time retouching my photo's and changing the perspectives on some of my images. I am happy with the overall flow of inspiration and including my documentary photos.
