Understanding Google

Google Drive

The most basic way to describe Drive is as an online file cabinet  where you can store just about anything, but most importantly all the files you created in Google apps.  Google Drive is like the hard drive of a computer, expect better because it is cloud-based. That means everything you put in Drive is stored online.  You can upload a file to Google Drive from your home computer, then open Drive on your Chromebook at school and it will be there.  It also means all changes made to files in Drive are saved automatically.  Wherever you have internet, you have access to Drive.

But Drive isn't just a place to store things; it is also a place to make things.  While you can go directly to the Google apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides) to start projects, all of these applications can be started and are stored in Drive.  It is a one-stop-shop!
