NORTHLAND YOUTH WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
The NYWA Association runs a State-wrestling tournament very similar to the MN State High School League. This means that you must qualify in the top two at the District qualifier in order to progress on to the Regional Qualifier. The top three in the regional Qualifier will then qualify for the State NYWA tournament held in Rochester, MN.
Note: There is more than one District qualifier. Should your child win a trip to the Regional tournament, you will then register your child for the Region tournament. When registering, you will need to select the weight class that your child will wrestle at. If your child wins a trip to the NYWA State tournament, you will only be allowed a one pound weight allowance. If your child does not make their weight they will be disqualified and unable to go up another weight class.
Each wrestler will weigh the same weight as their opponent. The child’s grade will no longer matter as Pre-school / Kindergarten wrestle against Pre-school / Kindergarten, 1st – 2nd grade wrestle against each other, 3rd – 4th graders wrestle each other and so on up to 8th grade.

This will host all Pre K – 8 tournaments for Individual’s and Team’s.
