Graduation Requirements
All students who graduate will earn 23 credits to earn a diploma as dictated by the Georgia Board of Education. This includes:
English (4)
Math (4)
Social Studies (4)
Science (4)
Electives (6)
Health & Personal Fitness (1)
Students should also work to complete a pathway of 3 classes in one area: CTAE, Fine Arts, World Language, or within the Advanced Academic Pathway.
Students are highly encouraged to complete a pathway of 3 classes in one area: CTAE, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, or Advance academic. Pathway offerings for the 25-26 school year include:
Business and Technology Pathway
Nutrition and Food Science Pathway
Diversified Agriculture Pathway
Construction Pathway
Teaching as a Profession Pathway
Marketing, Sales, & Service Pathway
Graphics & Design Pathway
Foreign Language Pathway (French or Spanish)
Public Administration Pathway
Visual Arts Pathway
Music (Band) Pathway
Chorus Pathway
Theater Arts Pathway
Advanced Academic Pathway (AP or DE) - students must earn four credits in one content area, plus one AP or DE credit in the same content area, plus two units of sequential credit in one world language.
Students who plan to pursue a four-year college degree are required to complete two units of sequential course credit in one world language. World language offerings for the 25-26 school year include:
Spanish 1, 2, 3, and AP Spanish Language
French 1, 2, 3
Latin 1-4 through GaVirtual School
German 1-3 through GaVirtual School
Chinese 1-4 through GaVirtual School
American Sign Language 1 & 2 through GaVirtual School
Graduating with Honors:
Qualifying students must have a 89.5 or above weighted GPA (not rounded).
Georgia Scholar Requirements:
Qualifying students must have a 3.75 GPA with proof of the following:
SAT combined score of 1360 OR ACT composite score of 31
participation in 3 different competitive interscholastic activities (athletics, music & literary events, fairs, & exhibits)
positions of leadership in 2 different organizations sponsored by the school
positions of leadership in 2 different organizations outside of the school (not paid)
see your school counselor for additional criteria (Voter Registration, Selective Service, etc.)
Graduating with Honors with Distinction:
Qualifying students must have a 94.5 or above weighted GPA (not rounded) and 3 AP and/or DE courses.
Whitfield County Scholar Requirements:
Qualifying students must have a 3.5 GPA with proof of the following:
SAT combined score of 1100 OR ACT composite score of 22
participation in at least 1 interscholastic activity (athletics, music & literary events, fairs, & exhibits)
position of leadership in 1 organization sponsored by the school
participation and leadership in 1 activity outside of the school
