College Visits

College Visits for Seniors

Seniors are allowed up to two (2) approved official college visits, which may be excused as an "Activity" when properly arranged in advance and confirmed with the counselor following this visit. It is the student’s responsibility to bring written confirmation from the college admissions office in order to have these absences excused. Without written proof of the visit, any absence will be considered unexcused and will count against a student's attendance for finals and credits. College visits must occur prior to April 1st of the student’s graduating year. 

*Note: Due to their locality, Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), Dalton State College (DSC), Coosa Valley Tech, and other schools in the surrounding areas (Bradley/Hamilton County, TN; Gordon/Floyd County, GA) are limited to a half day absence.

Students must print the College Visit Request Form or pick one up from the counseling office. This must be signed by a parent, the student's teachers, and his/her counselor. Documentation from the college must also be presented upon return to school in order to fully excuse the absence.
