Meet the teacher

Hello Third Grade Families!

My name is Ms. Murray, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year! Third grade is a year full of excitement and academic growth, and I can not wait to get to know each student. Before we meet, I want to tell you a little about myself.

I grew up in Wappingers Central School District and graduated from John Jay High School in 2016. Immediately after, I attended SUNY New Paltz majoring in early childhood/ childhood education with an English concentration. In my senior year of college, I was placed in Oak Grove as a fourth-grade student teacher and quickly fell in love with the warm and tight-knit community. I taught second grade at Oak Grove for two years, and  I am now entering my third year of teaching as a third-grade classroom teacher and could not be happier! I believe teachers should be lifelong learners, which is one of the many reasons I am enrolled in a master's program at Roberts and Wesleyan University to earn a master's degree in literacy. Due to these various experiences, I am well aware of the curriculum standards and expectations that your children will be held accountable for.

I enjoy drawing, spending time outdoors, and reading in my free time. This summer, I spent much of my time reading on the beach, and I can't wait to instill a love of reading in my students this year. I also enjoy hiking, especially in the fall, as it provides relaxation and beautiful views of the Hudson Valley. Art has been a passion of mine since I was a child, and one of my favorite things about being a teacher is witnessing children's creativity and curiosity.

I can not wait to begin this school year! If you would like to share any information about your child with me, such as their interests or things you think I should know, email me at your convenience. I look forward to collaborating with you all this year!
