This year students will continue to keep a writer's notebook. Students should have brought in a spiral notebook as requested on my supply list. The writer's notebook will be decorated in the beginning of the school year and needs to come to class every day- NO EXCEPTIONS! Much time and effort will go into creating between 2-3 pages per week (writing should be approximately 1 page in length), so you will NOT want to lose this very valuable item. Please keep checking back to this page for details on writer's notebook assignments if further explanation is needed when assigned. I may also post my own examples here as well.

Occasional free writes will be assigned, but most of the time I will assign the type of writing, or writing will be in response to stories, Scope, paintings, etc. The purpose of the writer's notebook is to build stamina and create larger works from short pieces. The writer's notebook is NEVER graded for content as it is personal and unique to each individual, but will receive completion grades throughout each quarter.
