Course Selection and Scheduling
Course selection happens in February and March. At this time counselors present students with all of the options available to them and students and families along with teacher input contribute to the courses that a student chooses as their preference for the following year. No course can be guaranteed, but we do our best to honor students first choices and encourage them to choose backup plans as well.
The actual scheduling process begins some time after the district budget has passed, usually in June. The computer does an initial scheduling run to ensure that there is equity amongst student schedules and class sizes. Counselors then make their best effort to grant students their preferred courses. Schedules become available at the end of summer vacation.
