Course: ICCC Defensive Tactics (CRJ 152)
Description:
This course is designed for students majoring in criminal justice. The topics covered in the course are Civil Liability of law enforcement officers in regards to Use of Force. Methods of defending against and controlling assailants by use of Defensive Tactics, Pressure Point Control, Edge Weapons, Firearms Awareness and Handcuffing Techniques. A Firearms Simulation is utilized in the course to expose the student to real life applications. This course will help students develop their critical thinking skills related to self-defense and establish personal responsibility as to the limitations of such actions in a real-life situation.
NOTE: Students will receive 3 credit hours at Iowa Central Community College.
