Course: Environmental Studies
Description: Fall Semester
An introduction to Environmental Science offers students the opportunity to apply scientific knowledge to current environmental issues. The course is designed to spark a student’s natural curiosity about environmental topics such as sustainability, biodiversity, and human interactions with the planet. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between humans and the world in which we live. Environmental Science goes deeper into the study of how current actions of humans are interacting with and affecting the major spheres on Earth (geosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere) leading to local and global changes on the planet. The study of Environmental Science integrates the knowledge of Biology and Earth Science, allowing students to apply this knowledge to current environmental issues. Students will be introduced to careers within environmental science as students investigate appropriate careers paths in the field of natural science.
