Course: Chemistry
Description: Fall & Spring Semester
Chemistry is the study of matter and energy. Students will study atomic structure, including both chemical and nuclear processes that take place within atoms. Also studied will be trends of the periodic table and predictions and patterns that can be identified. Topics of study will also include the area of intermolecular and intramolecular forces, including types of bonds, the structure of molecules and how this affects everyday products in our lives. Time will also be spent studying different types of chemical reactions and the conservation of mass. Lastly, there will also be time spent on factors that affect chemical reactions, including rate and equilibrium. The students will experience labs through the use of microscale techniques, technology, and traditional macroscale techniques. This course is designed to meet the entrance requirements to most four-year colleges.
