Course: Child Development/Parenting
Description:
In this course, students will gain an appreciation of the responsibilities of reproduction and infant care to aid in the lifelong interaction with children. Students will study all aspects of human growth and development to include: prenatal care, the development of the fetus, labor and delivery, infancy and parenting routines, as well as the physical, mental and emotional development of children. Additionally, students will discuss the financial implications of raising a child. Students can expect to take a variety of field trips ranging from visiting a maternity ward, daycare center, and elementary school. This is an excellent class for anyone interested in pursuing a career working with children such as a teacher, pediatrician, social worker, counselor, being a good babysitter, a good parent or a successful family member. You get hands-on experience with children as you learn how to encourage their development. If you want to be knowledgeable and comfortable when dealing with children, take this class and learn how!
