Course: Drawing
Description: Fall Semester
This course will further develop students' understanding of the Elements of Art: line, value, shape, color, texture, space and form; and introduce you to the Principles of Design: balance, movement, proportion, repetition/pattern, emphasis, contrast, and unity. Students will become familiar with various ways in which the elements and principles improve their creative approach and critical judgment. The course will enhance students’ observational skills and students will learn how to draw what they observe. Students will also express their thoughts and ideas creatively, while challenging their imagination, fostering reflective thinking and developing problem-solving skills. Students will be provided the opportunity to explore several different drawing mediums and drawing surfaces throughout the semester.

Course: Advanced Drawing
Description: Spring Semester
An advanced drawing course built on the knowledge and skills learned in Drawing and designed to help students find their own personal expression. We explore a variety of approaches and aspects in drawing that will help students discover their own personal style. Advanced Drawing will help establish a self-motivated, self-critical working process and explore visual means of both traditional and contemporary approaches in drawing. Students will increase communication skills, both visual and verbal, and achieve more confidence and mastery in experimenting with various concepts and materials.

Prerequisite: Intro to Art and Drawing required
