A student cannot be nominated for Talent Development. Talent Development students are defined as being high-performing students that show potential for AIG identification. Their performance data must be at a higher level to be referred for the AIG Program. The School Based Committee on Gifted Education (SBCGE) will evaluate the data and decide if the student qualifies for achievement and aptitude testing, the portfolio process, or AIG identification (see "How to Become AIG"). If the student does not qualify, they are placed into Talent Development. The AIG Coordinator will monitor their performance on grades, district and state-wide testing, and teacher feedback to help determine if the student needs a second evaluation in the future.
