Program Information at WMMMS:
Students receive most of their AIG services within the classroom setting by their regular education teachers in ELA and Mathematics.
Differentiation of instruction is occurring within each classroom. The regular education teachers provide learning opportunities and assignments that are rigorous for the AIG students.
AIG students are not assigned different work assignments. However, students may receive differentiated work assignments covering the same content and information as their classmates.
The regular education teachers assign all grades for AIG students.
The AIG Coordinator works primarily with the regular education teachers to ensure that learning objectives; lesson planning, and delivery are addressing the academic needs of our AIG students.
Core teachers and the AIG Coordinator collaborate on complex and challenging learning tasks within the classroom. The AIG Coordinator will "push in" to classes to monitor student work, coteach, and/or work with small groups.
Starting in 2025-26, the AIG Coordinator will "pull out" small groups of AIG and Talent Development students into a separate classroom during their Be IB class time, at least twice each semester based on the subject of identification (reading or math). This time will be spent on NC standards-based enrichment lessons designed to challenge students through critical thinking and problem-solving tasks.
Developing the 21st century and critical thinking skills of an AIG student is a continuous process and requires an approach that considers the complete student.
