Note: If a student has demonstrated behavior online that is not consistent with WHS Expectations, reach out to the student’s assigned administrator for help in determining if the issue should be treated as a “minor” behavior.
Step 1: Talk to Student
• Reach out via Remind, WCPSS email, Google Meets, etc.
• Keep interaction as positive/helpful as possible
“We missed you in class today.”
“I noticed you weren’t participating in today’s lesson. Is there anything that you need help with?”
Step 2: Contact Parents
• Reach out via phone, email, Google Meet.
• In some situations, it may make sense to complete Step 1 and Step 2 at the same time. The more informed parents are, the better.
• Parent must respond to email for this to be considered contact. If parent doesn’t respond to email within 48 hours, call parent
• This step is required if a student has missed 3 or more days of your class.
Step 3: Email Student’s Admin/Counselor Pairing
• Email admin/counselor pairing if behavior continues or if you are not able to get in touch with parent.
• In email, state how/if you’ve been able to get in touch with parents/student.
* This step is required if a student has missed 5 days and/or 3 consecutive days of your class.
