Students have the opportunity to design their own schedule and take classes that interest them. A wide range of electives offer students the opportunity to find a new gift or talent they may have.
Electives are offered Monday-Thursday for 45 minutes on a quarterly basis.
Kindergarten students get 4 electives per year.
First & Second grade students get 6 electives per year.
Third, Fourth & Fifth grade students get 8 electives per year.
Students have the opportunity to attend an array of visual and performing arts classes.
Kindergarten students get a daily special of Art, Music, Physical Education, Dance and Drama each week.
First and Second grade students get a daily special 1st semester.
Third, Fourth & Fifth grade students choose from a Focus Special each quarter.
Some examples include: Steel Drum Band, America Ninja Warrior, Ukulele, Recycled Percussion, Fairy Tales in Spanish, Broadway Bound, Boomwhackers, Improv, Origami.
In addition to specials, a wide variety of electives are offered for students.

Located on 24 acres near downtown Raleigh, Washington has a unique opportunity to capitalize on the rich culture around us.
With the assistance of the Raleigh Ambassadors, students in 2nd-5th grade participate in walking field trips to Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts, NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and the NC History Museum.
Partnerships with Meredith College, NC State University, and Shaw University allow student teachers and volunteers to be a part of our school community. Professors also partner with our faculty to offer professional development to our teachers.
