School campuses provide ideal locations to support natural systems by enhancing and restoring them. They can provide habitat for local wildlife and other ecological services such as cooling the campus, sequestering carbon, and outdoor recreation. Functioning natural areas can serve as educational outdoor laboratories for students, as well as places to observe, reflect, read, and relax.
