Healthful living Grading
The quarter grades will be equally weighted at 40%. A comprehensive final will be given at the end of the semester, weighing 20% of the semester grade. Parents and students are highly encouraged to check their grades on PowerSchool. Grades will be updated weekly. Interims will be given mid quarter. If something is turned in late, do not expect it to be graded immediately.
Letter Grade
A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = 59 AND BELOW
Grading will be determined on a weekly basis by total points. A breakdown of points consists of: Tests/Projects (30%), PE Participation (40%), Classwork (20%), and Fitness Testing/Sport Assessments (10%). Students are expected to follow the RHS Honor Code at all times.
Weight training Grading
The quarter grades will be equally weighted at 40%. A midterm will be administered at the end of the first and 3rd quarter. A comprehensive final will be given at the end of the semester, weighing 20% of the semester grade. Parents and students are encouraged to check their grades on PowerSchool. WEIGHT TRAINING:
· Daily grade – 60% - Daily Participation: Students will receive a daily grade on their full participation in class. This includes both the pre-exercise warm-up and workout/conditioning activity for the day. Proper attire is required in order to participate. Ex.) Crocs will forfeit your participation due to safety. You must participate in the designed workout area in proper, safe, and on task behavior during the entire duration of the class.
· Physical assessments – 20% - conducted as maxes in the four core lifts taught in class. This will be given as an average of the increase/decrease in those lifts from your initial max (- from old max = 50, old max = 60, +5 = 70, +10 = 90, 15+ = 100)
· Quizzes/Classwork – 20%
PHYSICAL FITNESS:
· Daily grade – 60% - Daily Participation: Students will receive a daily grade on their full participation in class. This includes both the pre-exercise warm-up and workout/conditioning activity for the day. Proper attire is required in order to participate. Ex.) Corcs, sandales, flip flops, boat shoes, dresses, and skirts will forfeit your participation due to safety. You must participate in the designed workout area in proper, safe, and on task behavior during the entire duration of the class.
· Physical assessments – 20% - conducted as pre, mid, and post year assessments in workouts throughout the year.
· Notebook checks – 20% - given throughout the semester on each student’s individual notebook of workouts and notes.
