Be sure to make it clear to students what protocols are for working collaboratively on digital assignments. Each app will have their own specific protocols according to the functionality of the tool and nature of the task. Consider accessibility features of your protocols such as including audio, visuals, close captioning, screenshots and PRACTICE THEM together before expecting students to be proficient with your expectations as you loosen your guidance.

- There was a time when we were all in classrooms together at the same time and kids were working and learning in groups and using their hands to create and pencils to write and draw. This is not a lost art!
- Live, synchronous instruction does not have to mean Google Meet.
- Collaborative tasks can be classified as synchronous learning
- Hand crafted work can be digitally captured to share with peers or with a teacher using the Insert>Image>Camera tool.
- Collaboration does not happen overnight. Skills and routines must be taught and practiced
- Job roles are as important in virtual environments as well as in face to face environments
