Welcome to the Southeast Raleigh Elementary Media Center Website!
Southeast Raleigh Elementary is a purpose-built community-focused public school that partners with both the YMCA and Southeast Raleigh Promise, a nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing Southeast Raleigh and providing services to the Southeast Raleigh community. The school shares a building with the Southeast Raleigh YMCA and students are able to take free swimming lessons at the YMCA pool during the fall and spring. Southeast Raleigh Elementary has approximately 400 students ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade. The Media Center is staffed by Ms. White, the full-time School Library Media Coordinator. Ms. White sees students on a fixed schedule and functions as one of the specialists at the school. A total of 21 classes ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade attend a 45-minute library special once a week to receive academic instruction as well as check out books.
My name is Ms. White and I have been the librarian at Southeast Raleigh Elementary since January 2022. I see all students once a week during their 45 minutes Media special.

Students start every library special by saying the SRES Library Pledge.
Students spend their time in the library doing research, practicing literacy skills that align with their core curriculum, practicing technology skills, and exploring maker space stations. They also get to check out books.
