Quarter 2: At a Glance


  • Represent and solve addition and subtraction word problems, within 100, with unknowns in all positions, by using representations and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

  • Skip count by 5’s and 10’s up to 100 within 1000.

  • Add up to three two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.

  • Mentally add 10 or 100 to a given number 100–900, and mentally subtract 10 or 100 from a given number 100–900.

  • Represent whole numbers as lengths from 0 on a number line diagram with equally spaced points and represent whole number sums and differences, within 100, on a number line

  • Demonstrate fluency with addition and subtraction, within 100.


Our 2nd EL Module will focus on fossils that tell of earth's changes. Students will learn about fossils and focus on:

  • What Paleontologists do, how they look for fossils and what fossils are.

  • The process of fossilization.

  • Paleontologists tools and the habits of characters they use in order to discover fossils.

This quarter in science we will focus on sound! We will explore the relationships between sound and vibrating objects. We will also be able to illustrate how sound is produced by vibrating objects and columns of air. We will also explore the eardrum and its relationship to hearing sounds.



Our theme this quarter in social studies will be the “Development of culture in the United States”. Students will recognize the various values and beliefs of diverse cultures that have shaped the American identity. We will also learn about the contributions of cultures in the United States.
