Quarter 1: At a Glance

  • Represent whole numbers up to 20 on a number line

  • Use a number line to find sums and differences (add and subtract)

  • Demonstrate fluency when adding and subtracting using mental strategies within 20

  • Pair and count objects by 2s and then determine if the number is odd or even

  • Share counters into 2 equal groups (if possible) to determine if a number is odd or even

  • Skip count by 5’s and 10’s up to 100.

  • Use flexible strategies when adding and subtracting within 100.

  • Select efficient strategies in order to compute sums and differences fluently.

  • Compare and explain addition and subtraction strategies.

  • Use strategies based on place value or properties of operations to add three two-digit numbers.

  • Mentally add or subtract 10 to a given number within 100-900.





Our 1st Module will focus on schools. Students will learn about what makes a school and why schools are important. We will focus on these ideas:

  • Schools are places that build knowledge and skills, foster character and relationships, and help students create high quality work.

  • Schools are different, but they serve an important purpose for the community.

This quarter in science we will focus on the states of matter! We will explore the different states of matter as we understand the difference between solids and liquids. Students will describe their various properties and the changes they undergo including melting, freezing, and evaporation.

Our theme for social studies this quarter will be “Thinking like a Historian”. Students will delve into clues by using primary and secondary sources to examine maps, government and the relationship between people and their environment. Students will begin thinking like a historian by using historical thinking while building research and inquiry skills.
