School Counselor
I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC! I attended North Carolina State University and earned my B.A in Psychology and minors in Sociology and Spanish. (Go Pack!!) Afterwards, I received my Masters in School Counseling at The College of William and Mary. I live in Cary NC with my husband, Andrew, and our 2 month old son, Barrett (who we call Bear). We also have a pup named Obi (any Star Wars fans?) and we all love being outdoors; whether it’s hiking and exploring new places or just chillin’ in a hammock. If I could eat queso for every meal, I think I would. No seriously, it’s a true problem for me. My husband and I are big fans of NWSL soccer and have tickets to all the NC Courage games! I love when I see studnets at the games! This will be my 9th year working as a school counselor and my 6th year here at Salem! I have loved every minute of it. I believe in equity and that every child has the right to come to school to learn and be loved. I love Salem and I am proud to call it my home!

School Psychologist
I’m Tayllor Aziz, and I’m serving as the school psychologist at Salem Elementary this year. I was born in California and lived in northern Virginia until I was in 6th grade. However, I claim Lexington, SC as my hometown because I lived in the area from when I was in middle school toJuly of 2022. I left Lexington for four years to attend school at Centre College in Danville, KY where I earned my B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience. I received my graduate degree in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina.
This is my fifth year as a school psychologist, but it is my first year working for the Wake County Public School System. I most recently worked as a school psychologist in the school district where I attended middle and high school in the suburbs of Columbia, SC for 4 years. I live with my husband, Sharif, and my “pawfect” 5-year-old golden retriever, Willard. In my free time I enjoy exercising, following Formula 1 racing, swimming with Willard, and watching bingeable TV shows. I look forward to working with the Salem Elementary family this year!

School Nurse
I am so excited to be a part of your team. I recently moved here from Dallas, Texas. Although I grew up in Fayetteville, NC I have not lived here in 20 years! I graduated from UNC-G with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Shortly after graduating and getting married I moved to Maryland. Most of my nursing career/experience has been in the hospital setting in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I worked at Johns Hopkins for 15 years. After my family and I moved to Texas I became interested in school nursing. I was a school nurse in Texas for 4 years before moving here 2 years ago.
I have been married for 19 years to Johnny whom I met in college. We have 3 beautiful children (Grant 17, Shelby 14, and Cole 13). We love being outside and all sports!
I am so happy to be back in the state of North Carolina and close to my family. I am looking forward to meeting and serving the students and families of Salem Elementary. Let me know what I can do to meet your nursing needs!
