MUSIC NEWS
Our May song is “Three Little Birds”. Classes are learning about Reggae, a style of music from Jamaica made famous by Bob Marley, the composer of the song. Our featured composer for May is Michael Jackson, an American singer, songwriter, and dancer that is known today as the King of Pop. Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana and lived from 1958-2009. How many of his songs do you know?
We have lots of student performances this month! Owl Chorus did a beautiful job in their Spring Concert at Family Night on April 28th. Thank you for a great year of Owl Chorus! Our final chorus rehearsal for the year is May 6th. Our 4th grade classes are performing Recorder Class Concerts during music class. We love having families join us for these “inform”ances. Our Kindergarten classes perform a special concert on May 28th at 5:30pm on the Oakview stage. In a few weeks we begin our well-loved tradition of Class Talent Shows in 1st-5th grades. The talent shows are just for the class during music time. We are lucky to have wonderful community youth choirs in our area so your child can continue their musical learning through the summer and beyond. The Raleigh Youth Choir and Cary-Apex Youth Choir are both holding auditions this month.
Our student musicians amaze me every day. Thank you for supporting our learning and helping to make it a great year in the music room!
Musically,
