North Wake College and Career Academy (NWCCA) recognizes the importance of preparing students for career success. A comprehensive career development program is available to all students.
Grade 9 / Career Exploration/Learning OF Work
Activities introduce students to career options in their respective program area. Students explore career options to provide motivation and informed decision-making in high school and post-secondary education. Employability skills are developed to enhance both classroom and workplace environments.
Grade 10 / Job Shadowing Experience/Learning ABOUT Work
Activities provide students with a deeper understanding of the workplace. Students explore and refine areas of interest and prepare for higher intensity work-based learning experiences through interactions with business partners that include learning about the skills necessary for internships.
Grade 11 / Internship/Learning THROUGH Work
Activities help the students to develop the skills needed for college and career readiness. The student applies learning through practical experience and interactions with professionals from industry.
12th Grade/Entry-Level Employment/Learning FOR Work
Training for postsecondary education and/or employment in a specific range of occupations. Students will gain real-world experience to further develop the employability skills that employers are seeking.
