How can I support my 7th grader in Visual Composition I?
Encourage your student to share their artwork and discuss their creative choices. Ask questions such as:
What inspired this project?
What techniques or materials did you explore?
What challenges did you face, and how did you solve them?
What would you like to experiment with next?
Take time to observe and celebrate their work. Support practice at home by providing space, time, and materials for drawing, painting, or printmaking. You can also create art together—sketching, painting, or experimenting with printmaking can be a fun way to explore creativity and share ideas. Encourage visits to museums, galleries, or art exhibits to see different styles, techniques, and approaches. Show interest in their sketches, journals, and process notes, helping your student reflect on their own work and the work of other artists.
