DreamBox is a computer based program we use in class! As your student solves problems, the program can adjust to provide problems & practice that best suit what they need support in. Students have a login and can access the program at home as well.

Building Mathematical Community & Understanding Equal Groups
19 days of instruction
In this unit, students will...
Understand objects can be counted in equal groups rather than as individual units.
Understand multiplication can be used for story problems involving equal groups.
Interpret numbers as 'the number of groups' and 'the number in each group.
Use strategies to solve multiplication problems such as arrays, repeated addition, equal group drawings and decomposing a factor.
Understand division can be used when there is an unknown number of groups, or an unknown number for how many are in each group
Vocabulary
The 'x' symbol in multiplication means 'groups of'
ex. 5 x 4 means "there are 5 groups of 4" or "there are 5 groups with 4 in each group"

I love the book "Math for All Seasons" by Greg Tang to challenge students to look for equal groups & arrays!
