Students will engage in learning and discussion through interactive read-aloud and integrated speaking/language/writing experiences through quarterly topics.

Quarter 1 Topics: Our School Family & Let's Move

• Our School Family: Students will learn the habits and character traits which show respect and responsibility in their new classroom community. 

• Let's Move: Students will build knowledge and vocabulary around attributes of movement of people, animals and objects in their world. 

Quarter 2 Topics: Exploring Places in My World & Exploring Objects in My World

• Exploring Places in My World: Students will explore the world through stories and explorations of maps. 

• Exploring Objects in My World: Students will explore the world through stories and explorations of maps. 

Quarter 3: Changes and Choices & Wonderful Weather

• Changes and Choices: Students will explore acceptance of how people are alike and different in the ways we live and in the choices we make each day. 

• Wonderful Weather: Students will explore the patterns of changing weather and our reaction to them. 

 Quarter 4: Friends and Families Work Together & Amazing Animals

• Friends and Families Work Together: Students will build knowledge and vocabulary about celebrating and knowing ourselves as we make decisions to work together. 

• Amazing Animals: Students will build knowledge and vocabulary around the characteristics of animals and their habitats.
