Unit 7: Understanding Operations with Fractions and Decimals
NC.4.NF.3, NC.4.NF.4, and NC.4.NF.6
In this unit, students learn to add and subtract fractions with like denominators, multiply fractions with a whole number, and solve word problems involving operations with fractions and decimals.
NC.4.NF.3- Being able to identify that a fraction can be decomposed into a sum of its parts and rewritten.
Ex: 6/8 is the same as
1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8
or 3/8+3/8 etc.
Being able to add and subtract fractions with like denominators:
Ex: 4/6 +1/6= 5/6 (not 5/12)-----> common mistake
Unit 6: Making Connections to Decimal Notation
4.NF.6 and 4.NF.7
Students are able to represent a number as both a fraction and a decimal, as well as compare decimals and fractions using various strategies. Students also understand that each place in the decimal place value system represents a power of 10. Each place is 10 times the place to its right.

Unit 5: Extend the Understanding of Fractions
In this unit, students learned various strategies to identify equivalent fractions and compare fractions with unlike denominators. We focus on fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10,12, and 100.

Unit 4: Develop Multiplication and Division Strategies
In this unit, students learned various strategies to multiply whole numbers of up to 3 digits by one digit multipliers and two digit by two digit numbers. Students also learned various strategies to divide up to a three digit number by a one digit divisor to get a quotient. Lastly, students learned to interpret the remainder in a division word problem.

Unit 3: Use Place Value Strategies to Add and Subtract Whole Numbers
In this unit, students learned that when interpreting whole numbers, a digit in one place is 10 times greater than the digit to the right. Students also compared numbers based on the value of each digit in a given whole number. Students used their place value knowledge to add and subtract whole numbers.

Unit 2: Explore Multiplicative Comparisons, Area and Perimeter, and Factors and Multiples
In this unit, students are able to multiply or divide to solve word problems involving multiplicative comparisons (times as many as). Students are also able to identify factor pairs for a given number, identify the multiples of a number, and distinguish between prime and composite numbers. Students are also able to solve problems involving area and perimeter and will be able to distinguish the differences between the two measurements.

Unit 1: Building a Math Community Through Real Data (Graphing)
In this unit, students are able to collect, analyze, and create data using frequency table, bar graphs, and line plots. Students are also able to differentiate data as categorical or numerical.
