Social Studies: A Closer Look at NC
The overall intent in Social Studies this year is to learn about North Carolina’s history. We will analyze the chronology of key historical events in North Carolina history. We will understand the development, structure and function of North Carolina's government. We will also understand how human, environmental and technological factors affect the growth and development of North Carolina.
Unit 1: History Through Lenses of North Carolina(Pre-colonial through Reconstruction)
Unit 2: Government: The development, function and structure of North Carolina government and analyze the North Carolina Constitution.
Unit 3: Economics
Unit 4: Culture, Geography and Environmental Literacy
Science:
Students will explore a variety of topics this year. The standards will be taught through science class and some of the EL Reading Modules.
