This year in math your child will be using the Wake County created Alignment Lessons, as well as, teacher created instructional units. This year students will apply previous years learning to go deeper into place value, the four operations, fractions, geometry, data interpretation and measurement. They will be expected to solve problems and are encouraged to reflect and become resourceful problem solvers.
Students will collaborate with peers to deepen their understanding for math concepts. This collaboration and investigation promote the development of communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and social awareness.
Students will also continue using an online program, Dreambox, to individually practice conceptual math learning at their level. This will be part of their daily independent learning.
Practicing multiplication/ division facts with them is a SUPER way to support their math development.
