OTIS is our Daily Folder! The acronym OTIS stands for:
“Only The Important Stuff”
Each child will be given their OTIS by Mrs. Romines! Each and every pocket is so important & serves a distinct purpose!
OTIS Rules:
1. Do not eat or drink in front of your OTIS
2. Do not write in or on your OTIS
3. Do not let anyone borrow your OTIS
4. You are responsible for your OTIS: Bring it with you every day and take it home each afternoon.
5. Share your OTIS with your parents every night!
6. Be gentle with your OTIS and take care of it!
7. Don't add anything to your OTIS that doesn't belong there—inside or out!
So, what’s inside my OTIS folder?
Information, Newsletter and Home-School Connection Pocket:
In the 1st pocket you will find notices from the school, PTA, and WCPSS Central Office. Field trip information and book orders will be placed here, too!
You may also use this pocket to put notes concerning any absences or you can use it to send in lunch money, field trip money, picture money or any other money that needs to come to school. We will check this pocket each morning.
You will also find our home-school connection sheet. This will have important things to know each week or any little notes that we need to write to each other. Make sure to talk with your child about his/her day and sign in the box for each day of the week, NIGHTLY!
Reading Log:
In the 2nd pocket you will find your child’s reading log! Please complete the reading log each time you read a book with your child. The goal is for them to color in their log each month.
Reading logs will be collected at the beginning of the month and a new one will go in.
Building Responsibility with OTIS…
I have seen, through the use of OTIS, communication between home and school is stellar! OTIS also helps your child gain responsibility and independence! Please make sure that you and your child look through OTIS each night and place any paperwork in the appropriate pockets or folder. OTIS will be checked each school day!
