Attendance- much of our learning will take place together. We will have lots of group discussions and small group learning. Please plan to attend school every day, except in cases of illness or emergency! If you do miss, please send in a note as soon as you can return.
Book orders- about once a month, a book order form will come home from Scholastic. This is a great way to purchase books inexpensively and continue to have your child’s home library grow, while helping our class earn points towards other items!
Communication- please feel free to contact me by e-mail aromines@wcpss.net, through TalkingPoints messages, or call me at school 557-2770 with questions or concerns at any time.
Dismissal- school ends at 3:50. We are learning all day long!
Emergencies- If phone numbers change, please let me know so that your information can be updated!
Field trips- We get to have one field trip in the spring where we go visit Bass Lake to explore animals and their habitats.
Good Behavior-Is expected! During the first few weeks we will work on creating a warm and welcoming classroom environment. The students will be an integral part in helping create that inviting feeling, so we want to make sure they are bringing their best self each day.
Homework- this year we expect for students to complete their work throughout the day. For homework I would like to have you read your child a bedtime story each evening or have them read a story to you.
Important information- Please let me know of anything that comes up that you feel like I should be aware of.
Join the PTA-We are one big family here at the Willow and we are incredibly lucky to have such a supportive PTA. PLEASE join the PTA this year. It is only $6/person and it is a great way to get involved!
Kindness- we will learn about being kind to others and ourselves every day. We will work on being a “Bucket Filler”!
Lunch- Please send in items that your child can open easily and nothing that needs to be heated up. We love having parents come to have lunch with kiddos once we have established our lunch routine. That is a super fun treat!
Mornings- We will start right at 9:15 every morning. Please make sure that your child is here and ready to start their day on time.
Newsletters-updates will be sent out through TalkingPoints each week to you to keep you in the know.
Oh Please!-Help us with our wish list! There will be items throughout the year that we will ask for that we will need for activities or projects in the room. Please check our wish lists for those items when they come up.
Parties-if you would like to send in a little goodie on your child’s birthday that is more than fine. Please just keep in mind that ALL items MUST be store bought!
Quick and Quiet Hellos- as you volunteer in our classroom or our building, we want your kiddo to give you a "quick and quite" hug and hello but get right back to work. It is important for them to greet you, but remain involved in class activities ad be able to stay involved when you have to leave.
Reading- students are expected to read at home every night, as part of their nightly homework. Encourage them to bring their library books home to read.
Snack-Please make sure to pack a healthy snack with your child each day. We have a pretty late lunch so it is important that they have a healthy snack to keep them going.
Tardies- students should be at school by 9:20. Arriving after this time causes students to lose instructional time. If they are tardy they will need to check in with the office before coming down to the classroom.
Understanding-your kindergarten reader: Our kindergarten readers need to read as often as possible to fine-tune and strengthen sight vocabulary, decoding skills, comprehension, and fluency.
Volunteers- we love volunteers! Moms, dads, grandparents...You must be a green star volunteer before you can work in the classroom so please sign up as soon as you can!
Wardrobe-Your child will need a complete change of clothes that will be kept at school. We will send them home periodically to make sure they are weather appropriate.
Winter weather wear- please write your child's name insider their winter gear!
I am eXcited to work with You and Your child this year! Make sure he/she gets plenty of Zzzz's each night as we have exciting days planned for this year!
