Reading: Next week is all EOG review!
Writing: They will continue writing a persuasive essay based on the research done in class to convince others to take action to solve the world's issues with water. If students finish in a timely manner, they will be allowed to create either a virtual or poster PSA (Public Service Annoucement) to advertise what they learned.
Math: Students will take their final measurement assessment on Monday (focusing on word problems). Tuesday we will begin unit on telling time with a focus on elapsed time within an hour.
Social Studies: We will focus on studying the functions of each of the three branches of government and how they work together in Checks and Balances. The end of the week we will begin to study good testing skills to prepare for EOGs.

Reading: We will continue to research solutions to the world's issues with water. They will have EL assessments on Monday and Friday.
Writing: They will be writing a persuasive essay based on the research done in class to convince others to take action to solve the world's issues with water.
Math: The measurement focus for this week will be on measuring capacity and weight, while solving story problems with mixed operations focusing on measurement. They will take a mid-unit assessment on Wednesday.
Social Studies: We will focus on studying the functions of each of the three branches of government and how they work together in Checks and Balances.

Reading: We will continue to research solutions to the world's issues with water. They will take their next EL assessment on Thursday.
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on writing a letter, specifically the appropriate use of punctuation when doing so, and we will begin to plan for our persuasive essay on convincing others to take action about the world's water issues.
Math: The measurement focus for this week will be on measuring length with feet to the nearest quarter or half inch. At the end of the week we will begin to study measurement of capacity.
Social Studies: We will end our walk through North Carolina history as we study the Civil Rights Movement. Wednesday, we will begin to study government with an overview of our government system and the executive branch.

Reading: We will be reading both fiction and nonfiction texts to build background knowledge preparing us for writing persuasive essays and creating PSA videos/posters. We will also be thinking about the author/narrator's point of view.
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on plural nouns, personification and components of a friendly letter.
Math: The fractions focus for this week is on comparing fractions. The students will take their final fractions assessment on Thursday. Friday we will begin a unit on measurement.
Social Studies: We will continue to walk through North Carolina history as we study slavery, Women's Suffrage, and the Civil Rights Movement.

Reading: Our reading focus continues to be on identifying main idea and details. The students will take their next EL assessment on Friday
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on the functions of verbs and adverbs.
Math: The fractions focus for this week is on equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. They will take their second fractions assessment on Tuesday, then we will dive into comparing fractions with like numerators or like denominators.
Science: The focus for this week will be reviewing what we have learned about plants. They will take their final science assessment for the school year on Wednesday.
Social Studies: Thursday, we will begin a brief history unit. The focus for this third grade unit surrounds local history. We will begin with Native Americans and move through time ending with the Civil Rights Movement.

Reading: Our reading focus continues to be on identifying main idea and details.
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on reviewing parts of speech with a focus on adjectives and verbs. We are beginning to focus less on identifying the parts of speech and more on identifying what their specifici "function" is in a sentence.
Math: The fractions focus for this week is on equivalent fractions. We only compare fractions with similar numerators or denominators. The students will take their next fractions assessment on Friday.
Science: The focus for this week will be on studying various types of soil and how the soil type affects plants able to grow in that region. We will create our compost on Tuesday! So, send in all those "greens and browns", please!

Reading: This week will continue to study main idea and using the text to find answers to questions. Tuesday the students will take an EL test and Wednesday they will take the Reading NC Check In C assessment.
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on pronouns and adjectives.
Math: The fractions focus for this week is on equivalent fractions. We only compare fractions with similar numerators or denominators.
Science: We will continue to study the parts and functions of seeds, as well as begin a unit of study on soil. We will be planting Wisconsin Fast Growing Plants this week and creating compost!

Reading: We will begin our final EL Module of third grade! The focus of this module is issues with the world's freshwater. We will begin this week with a focus on identifying main idea & details and using the text to answer questions.
Writing: The writing focus this week will be on nouns and pronouns.
Math: We will continue to study unit fractions with the first fractions assessment being on Thursday. Friday we will begin a unit on comparing fractions.
Science: Our final science unit is on plants. We will focus on studying the functions of the main parts of the plant this week as we prepare for planting seeds next week.
