Below you will find the list of steps that must be completed in order for you to be considered as a member of this year's Science Olympiad team. All parts of your application, including the teacher recommendation, must be submitted by 4:00 pm on Friday, September 6th. Due to the large interest in the club, applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
Please contact Mrs. Masterson (wmasterson@wcpss.net) with any questions.
After the interest meeting, your first step is to completely fill in the online google form application. Access this application by clicking the button below. All parts of the application must be completed in order for your application to be considered for this year's team.
Note: Students are responsible for completing the application themselves. They must use their student account to access the forms.
Your next step is to ask a former math or science teacher to complete the teacher recommendation form. Again this should be completed by the student applicant. Review email etiquette in information slides. You can view the form by clicking on the link below. Copy the link and email it to the teacher, requesting politely that they complete by the deadline.
Your final step is to study and show up on the correct day to tryout for the events in which you would like to compete. Click the link below for a schedule of event tryout days. Specifics will be emailed only to students who submit a completed application by the deadline.
Tryout Dates will be:
Tuesday, September 10th
Wednesday, September 11th
Thursday, September 12th
Tryouts will be held from 3:30-4:45 pm each day listed above. Students must have a ride at the school to pick them up no later than 4:30 as students will be dismissed as they finish testing.
Please note that selected team members will be required to pay club dues that covers the cost of competition, team shirts, and supplies.
Regular team meetings will be every Tuesday from 3:30-4:45 p.m. Students must provide their own transportation home on these days.
Students who make the team will also be assigned to the Science Olympiad Club that will meet every other Monday during SMART Block on Club Days.
