This is my first year at Martin, and I’m excited to join the 6th graders as we begin this new chapter together. Prior to this, I served as a school counselor at Broughton High School for 15 years. I look forward to supporting students and families as they navigate middle school and prepare for the transition to high school.
I have three daughters—a 5th grader, a 2nd grader, and a Kindergartner. In my spare time, my family and I enjoy exploring local trails, spending time on the water, traveling, and playing with our seventeen pets!
Martin uses Second Step curriculum to facilitate SEL in all grade levels. Students receive two lessons a month. Counselors also teach guidance lessons on Signs of Suicide, Class registration, coping skills and more!
Small groups will meet periodically throughout the school year. Counselors will be in touch individually with students and families about small group opportunities.
Counselors are available to meet with students individually to address specific needs regarding social/emotional support and academic assistance. If supports are needed outside of the school setting, Ms. Wapner can aid in connecting students and families to resources.
