Week 10 (10/30- 11/03)
This week, students took the unit test on family. By now they should be able to name family members. They should also be able to describe themselves and others using adjectives and the verbs ser and tener. Next week we will start unit three which will focus on pastimes and hobbies. As a reminder, parent teacher conference night is next week on 11/09 from 5:00 -7:00. Have a great weekend.
Week 9 (10/23- 10/27)
This week students practiced and quizzed on their physical descriptions vocabulary. They also learned some personality descriptions. The quarter ends today and students took some time in class to study and work on missing assignments. Next week they will take the unit test which will assess them on everything they have learned in the family unit. I’m looking forward to another great week.
Week 8 (10/16-10/20)
This week, students took a quiz on the family vocabulary and they practiced using the verb tener through a speaking activity. They interviewed their classmates and asked them about their families in Spanish. Students also practiced writing sentences in Spanish using the verbs ser,tener and possessive adjectives. Next week, students will learn some adjectives that describe physical traits and they will have a quiz on the adjectives on Wednesday.
Week 7 (10/09-10/13)
This week students practiced the family vocabulary through a listening activity. They also learned how to use possessive adjectives and how to make nouns plural. Next week students will study the verb tener and they will have a family vocabulary quiz.
Week 6 (10/02-10/06)
This week, students started unit 2, the family unit. So far students have learned about subject pronouns and the verb ser. They have also learned some family member names. Next week, students will learn to read and identify family members using a family tree.
Week 5 (09/25 - 09/29)
This week students took a quiz on food vocabulary and continued to work on reading and listening skills. They also reviewed the verb prefer by interviewing a classmate and talking about food preferences. Next week we will learn about popular foods eaten in various Spanish speaking countries.
Week 4 (09/18 - 09/22)
Good afternoon. This week students did an activity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and took a quiz on the calendar and greetings. By now students should be able to tell you about a person of Hispanic heritage and greet someone for the appropriate time of the day. They should also be able to ask and give personal information such as where they live, where they are from and how old they are. Next week we will test on all that we have covered so far in unit 1. The test will be on Thursday of next week. If students receive less than an 80 on a quiz or test, they are allowed to do a retake after attending pack time for remediation
Week 3 (09/11- 09-15)
Good afternoon. This week students took a numbers quiz and learned about the Spanish calendar. By now they should be able to tell you what day it is, the date and their birthdates. We also started learning a few greetings. Students have also been practicing giving their names, ages and telling where they are from. We will continue to practice greetings next week and on Thursday there will be a greetings/calendar quiz. Grades will be updated this evening in PowerSchool. Have a great weekend.
Week 2 (09/04-09/08)
Good afternoon. This week students took a spelling quiz after learning the alphabet. They also learned the numbers 1-100 in Spanish. We will continue practicing with the numbers in Spanish next week and students will quiz on the numbers on Wednesday. After the numbers quiz, students will learn how to give the date in Spanish and they will learn to tell and ask others about their birthdays. We will work on greetings after learning about the Spanish calendar.
Week 1 (08/28-09/01)
Hi, I'm Mrs. Anderson and I will be your child's Spanish teacher for the semester. This week we focused on getting to know one another. Students also learned some common classroom phrases and the Spanish alphabet. Next week we will review the Spanish alphabet and learn some numbers and greetings in Spanish. I am really enjoying getting to know your students and I am looking forward to another great week of learning.
