Self-efficacy is believing that you have the skills that you can rely on to accomplish your goals!
Self-Efficacy Enhancers given children more specific and realistic feedback.
HOW-TO:
Slow down - Don't immediately jump to a general statement of praise (e.g., "You're the best"). When we slow down, we can take the time to emphasize our children's strengths and talents.
Be specific - Think about what you can say that is specific to your child's strengths. What did they do that contributed to their "Good job"? For example, "The way you used inflection while reading made the story so interesting" or "I like how you asked if you could help me today".
Name a strength - Identify a strength or skill that your child can use in the future to be as successful as possible. For example, "You have a such a great ability to name how you are feeling, how might that help you in a situation like this".
